my “go to” Scriptures (generosity)

December 27, 2008 troyhjones

I  have some key Scriptures that have influenced and shaped my life.  I call them my “go to” Scriptures.  These are Scriptures I reflect on regularly.  Every night before I go to bed I pull these Scriptures out and take a few moments to think about them.

I will update these Scriptures often on my blog.

I have spent some time putting them into categories.  Here are my “go to” Scriptures on the mouth.

Generosity

Palms 37: 25, 26

25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.  26 They are always generous…their children will be blessed

Proverbs 3: 9, 10

9 Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; 10 then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Mal 3:10

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

Matt 6:19-21

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Luke 16:10-11

10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?

I Corinthians 16:2

On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.

2 Corinthians 8: 7

But just as you excel in everything–in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us–see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”

2 Cor 9:6-7

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Phil 4:19

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

1 Tim 6:17-18

17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
