new life ramblings (1/28/10)

January 29, 2010 troyhjones Comments off

Every week (or most weeks) I take a moment to share what is on my heart.  Everything from what is happening at New Life, our culture, in my life and just random stuff.  I call this “New Life Ramblings”.  Enjoy! Feel free to respond back!  Give input!  Ask questions!  Grab a cup of coffee and catch up on what is going on in my mind.

  • We have eight core values.  #2 is “Heartfelt Worship”.  We engage in genuine worhsip and respond to sacred moments with God.  Click here for all eight.
  • Pray for our students this weekend.  They are at a retreat.  Pray for Jesus to be honored and glorified.
  • We had 119 people sign up for front door ministries. Amazing!  Amazing!  Click here to sign up.
  • As I write these ramblings we are 58 days, 9 hours, 57 minutes from the new building!!
  • Loved the excitement of people at New Life Orientation last week.  Sign up now for the one in February.
  • Follow me on Facebook and/or twitter.
  • In two weeks we’re beginning new series called “Simon Peter”.  God took a reckless man and turned him into the rock.  He sinned, denied Christ, cut off a man’s ear, struggled with Gentiles getting saved and said stupid things-and God still chose him to advance the gospel.  I can relate!
  • I am reading a book that is presenting some insights on how to do small groups effectively. I love being challenged.
  • Did you know we have 144 women in groups at New Life? (growth classes/Women‘s groups)
  • Simply Worship is this Wednesday.  I love this environment.  Great time to worship together as a family.  First one of 2010.  Only two left in this building.
  • We receive communion the last Sunday of every month.  In the Well we receive communion weekly. This Sunday, let’s be prepared to receive body and blood of Jesus.
  • We baptized people the first Sundays of the month.  Click here to be baptized in water.
  • This Sunday Steve Chavez will be speaking.  You don’t want to miss him.  He spoke for Man Up and he is the Youth retreat speaker.  Excellent.  I am very, very excited to have Steve share with New Life.
  • I am blessed to be your pastor!!
